Travel Celebrating a Birthday in Spring in New York City – HER//Excursions (herexcursions.com) is never complete for me without enjoying nature. I was particularly looking forward to finally experiencing the wonders of Central Park myself. Unfortunately, limited time and unpleasant weather prevented a visit to the Park. However, my daughter and I were able to find some solace in the Big Apple.
The High Line Park
I’ve wanted to visit Home | The High Line since I heard of its opening. We got on the trail at Chelsea Market. I. Loved it. The raised greenspace is an oasis of calm in this frenetic city. Granted. There wasn’t much green to be seen just days into spring, however it was a calming atmosphere. The park is made for strolling. Think slow, lazy walks gabbing with friends while licking melting ice-cream. Realize though that the path is not very wide, just about four people across.
Not only did we enjoy the architecture of some of the buildings we passed, but it was a great way to view the graffiti art dotted on some buildings along the path. There was a nice seating area edged with a long window right above a road, perfect for picnics, people watching and resting. The park a must visit, all the more so because it’s free!
Hudson River Park

The park Home — Hudson River Park is over 4 miles of a landscape that includes piers, sports fields, running and biking trails and even miniature golf and a skating park just to name a few. All with gorgeous views of the river. The path was busy with walkers, runners and bikers when we visited. Bathrooms are available, as were some seating. It was a nice space.
